Pertama yang harus diambil adalah buah-buahan segar agar perut terisi buah terlebih dahulu, disusul dengan sayuran dan sedikit makanan laut seperti ikan atau udang. Karbohidrat dikurangi. Bila tak ada Basmati Rice janganlah makan nasi biasa karena kandungan gulanya tinggi. Ambillah daging (steak) dan sayur sebagai penggantinya.&lt;br /&gt;Yang penting lagi sehabis itu jangan mengambil kue-kue manis sebagai makanan pencuci mulut. Minumlah air dan bukan Coca-cola! Kami mengunjunginya pada tahun 2001 dan sempat melihatnya mendemonstrasikan cara memasak nasi goreng. Nasi goreng yang 'baik dan benar' bisa dimakan oleh penderita diabetes. Bahan yang dibutuhkan :&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Basmati Rice, brambang bawang, olive oil, mentimun, udang rebus, telur, merica dan garam secukupnya.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cara membuatnya : Mula-mula irislah brambang dan bawang kemudian tumis dengan minyak zaitun di dalam wajan. Beri garam dan merica dan tuangkan nasi dan diaduk hingga rata bumbunya. Yang paling sulit adalah menceplok telur ala Oom Sobron. Telur ceplok harus indah penampilannya. Beliau dilatih oleh seorang koki profesional untuk melakukan ceplokan jitu tersebut. Yang dibeli kali ini adalah ikan Sardin dan dibeli di Toko Korea di Blacktown.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cara memasaknya hanya di potong menjadi dua, dibelah-belah, diberi garam dan di grill. Jangan lupa untuk membolak-balikkannya. Pada perhelatan pernikahan di belakang rumah, para ibu menyiapkan berderet-deret piring kemudian diisi rebusan bloemkol (kembang kubis), wortel, seledri dan setelah itu pada waktu akan dihidangkan kuahnyapun dituang ke piring. Kaldu ayam plus bakso ayam (daging ayam cincang dibumbui mrica, garam dan dibuat bulatan kecil-kecil). Itulah dia Sup Pengantin yang disajikan sebagai makanan pembuka sebelum datangnya nasi. Daikon bisa dimakan mentah caranya diparut kemudian diberi taburan "Bonito flakes". Orang Indonesia tidak pernah memakan daikon secara mentah tetapi sebenarnya daikon banyak mengandung indoles yang mengurangi estrogen dari tubuh sehingga bertindak sebagai anti kanker terutama kanker payudara. Lobak bisa juga diacar (takuan) atau dimasukkan dalam sup. Bahkan daunnya pun dimakan oleh orang Jepang (dibuat stirfry).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Daikon mengandung kalori rendah tapi kaya vitamin C. Daikon juga mengandung enzym yang membantu pencernaan apalagi sehabis makan goreng-gorengan atau makanan berlemak.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Kali ini parutan daikon disajikan bersama cuilan daging ayam yang ditumis dengan sedikit minyak wijen dan sedikit shiro miso paste. Miso soup nya diberi irisan daikon dan kucai. Bagilah sayap menjadi tiga dan bagian yang dipakai adalah bagian tengah.&lt;br /&gt;Buat sayatan melebar 3 kali bolak-balik pada bagian itu untuk meresapkan bumbu. Bumbunya hanyalah parutan bawang dan Tsuyu. Taruh dalam pinggan untuk mengetim. Bubuhi parutan jahe muda, irisan kucai (spring onions), shiro miso paste dan timlah selama 15 menit, bisa juga dimasukkan dalam microwave (2 kali @ 5 menit). Cacahlah daging (boleh dalam blender) bersama bawang, merica, garam, tsuyu, jahe muda. Setelah kuah mendidih masukkan cacahan daging ayam, aduk pelan-pelan hingga masak. Kocoklah telur, tambahkan sedikit garam. Matikan api kompor dan masukkan telur perlahan-lahan sambil diaduk. Bila kuah terlalu panas telur akan matang segera dan menggumpal tapi bila api dimatikan kopyokan telur berubah menjadi serpih-serpih seperti daging kepiting. Kalau orang Indonesia paling mementingkan rasa, orang Jepang mementingkan kesehatan dari makanan yang dimakan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Untuk yang tinggal di Sydney, bisa membeli bahan-bahan makanan Jepang di warungnya Anagawa-san di Artamon (cerita dan keterangannya menyusul).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Untuk resep makanan ini dibutuhkan Japanese Ramen (bisa disimpan di freezer), kecap khusus untuk Hiashi Tsuka, kubis, tomat, timun, telur dan sedikit ikan salmon (sisa kemarin ketika membuat sashimi - tapi harus disimpan di lemari es).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cara membuat : Ramen direbus dengan air mendidih di atas kompor kemudian taruh dalam saringan dan disiram air dingin di bawah keran, tiriskan. Iris kubis menjadi kecil memanjang dan lembut, rajang timun menjadi kotak-kotak, iris tomat menjadi kecil-kecil. Telur dikopyok dengan Tsuyu (kecap Jepang), tambahi merica dan garam dan masukkan potongan salmon (kalau ada) dan didadar tipis di dalam wajan, kemudian dadar telur ini digulung dan diiris seperti kalau untuk diletakkan di atas nasi goreng.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sajikan ramen dengangan irisan kubis, timun, tomat dan di atasnya dibubuhi irisan dadar telur dan tuangi kecap Hiashi Tsuka kira-kira satu sendok makan. Cara memakannya dicampur dengan sumpit dan dimakan pelan-pelan. Yang dianjurkan disini adalah ikan Salmon. Australia terutama Tasmania banyak menghasilkan ikan sehat ini. Bagi pemula, makan ikan salmon mentah sungguh asing dan aneh tetapi semua itu bisa karena terbiasa.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Rasanya seperti makan jelly atau pudding! Belilah potongan ikan salmon yang bagus di tempat penjual ikan. Iris-iris pipih memanjang (lihat foto), bubuhi kecap Jepang dan moster hijau Jepang yang disebut "Wasabi". Cara makan, taruhlah sashimi dalam cawan dan bubuhi kecap kemudian gosokkan pada Wasabi! Yah, daripada di masa mendatang menderita, hiduplah sehat sejak kini. Diabetes bisa menyebabkan kebutaan, gagal ginjal, stroke, sakit jantung dan lain hal yang mengerikan.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Untuk hiburannya, kadang-kadang boleh makan yang diperbolehkan bagi penderita diabetes, misalnya : Kacang Rebus.
